Floodplain Management Services

A core specialty of NextGen's work.

NextGen staff are nationally certified floodplain managers. We routinely engage in the following services:

• Hydrology and hydraulic modeling studies to predict the extent of floodplains and assign risk of flooding (such as the 100-year flood) 
• Calculate scour and erosion 
• Design riprap or other solutions to stabilize channel banks or protect bridges and other structures
• Assist landowners in floodproofing their structures
• Revise FEMA flood maps if there is new data
• Advise agencies on the Community Rating System, a FEMA program to reward public policies that reduce flood risk by lowering flood insurance rates
